Minimalist Halloween
I believe in celebrating the seasons and changing aspects of your decor to reflect the natural world outside. The small act of switching out art or a vase or even lighting a seasonal candle can reinvigorate an entire room and make you feel like you have stepped into the next season. I love to pick a few areas in the main living spaces to become seasonal vignettes, places in the room where your gaze naturally falls or where you spend time - the mantle in the living room, the area next to the coffee maker in the kitchen or the entry table next to the front door.
To create a livable ode to Fall and a paired back nod to Halloween, try a minimalist mantle adorned with branches, a neutral vase, terracotta or ceramic pumpkins, a plain canvas and candles. As Halloween draws near, an illuminated terracotta vase swivels around to reveal a jack-o-lantern and three-dimensional bat silhouettes take flight on the canvas backdrop. With simple seasonal items as your starting point add a dose of your favorite type of Halloween decor be it, spooky, sweet or quirky.
