Fraxinus Confetti / Chicago Tree Project Submission
In Fraxinus Confetti, a once-lost tree becomes the center of a celebration. Utilizing elements of surprise, color, shape, scale, and abundance the tree becomes a beacon of joy. As Ingrid Fetell Lee states, "color in nature means something: a stage of growth," where leaves and branches would have marked growth in the past, colorful embedded acrylic confetti signifies renewed and unexpected growth, inviting the viewer's curiosity and sense of discovery. The color, repetition, abundance, and changing scale of the confetti create a rhapsody of joy and a signal of hope.
